From Queens, Heart Attack, at the outset was a very young band, it's members being between 12-16 years old. When they cut their first 5 song demo, called The Hitler demo, singer Jesse Malin was 12. They followed with 8 tracks from the Mojo sessions.
Then in 1980 they made history with the God Is Dead e.p., the very first New York City hardcore record. It was released on Damaged Goods Records, a label started by Lyle Hysen who had a fanzine called Damaged Goods. Three excellently played scorchers influenced by seeing Bad Brains play at CBGB's
On a personnel note--here In New York City there was a famous record store called Bleecker Bob's on West 4th Street in Greenwich Village. I used to go there often. One day, probably around 1985 if I had to guess, Bob had a copy of God Is Dead tacked up on the wall with a price tag of $100. I thought "WTF! I hope some sucker doesn't fall for that." Well, it turns out the sucker was me. Only 300 copies pressed and the last two auctions in 2017 this bad puppy sold for $1685 and $1573.
